One of the hardest things about not living near your family is missing the little ones growing up – and worse yet is the look of unfamiliarity on the rare occasions they do see you. Here’s this little person who you are related to and love and they look at you like “Who the heck are you and why are you sleeping in the guest room?”

I had come across a dry rub decal paper about a year ago, and bought some in hopes of replacing the missing markings on my stove (the victim of an over-zealous cleaning lady and harsh chemicals). It was only recently that it occurred to me to use them in a crafty way…
So I started with our profiles. My brother sent me a picture of her in profile that I then turned into a ‘stamp’ by using the filter in Photoshop. I already had our profiles from our wedding stationery, so I combined all three and printed them off on this magic paper.
I then set out to find vintage plates and scored these singles from a stall at the local market for £1 each.
The transfer process is a bit tricky, but there is a full video explanation here, and after watching it two or three times, I was feeling brave. After the obligatory print, cure, peel, stick, cure, cut, stick and rub, the results were actually pretty fab and ready to take a place in her newly decorated bedroom…

This is such a great idea – I’m thinking much too much about blackboards at the moment and it would a nice idea to make cameos on a large scale and cut them from a chalkboard sticker too. Hmmmm.
Wow, love it too! I wish I had a more original formulation of that phrase…
I love it too! What a beautiful idea!
