While money may make it easy to fill a home will all manner of impressive and fabulous things, it doesn’t make the process more interesting, exciting or impressive than a bit of hard work and original thought.
Through years of dreaming beyond my means, I had to make my interior design dreams work with very limited resources. From my very own teenage bedroom to less than savoury shared accommodations to finally a flat of my own, I have always needed to stamp my space with my very own aesthetic to feel good about being there. Luckily, I married someone who lets me carry on uninterrupted and has some pretty good ideas to boot.
So with a little inspiration from the artists, designers and craftspeople out there,
a few cheap and handy supplies, a handful of great resources and a little time, our home is a place I am proud of and love to show off.
‘Show and tell’ is like crack to me. Thus, Social Nesting is a forum for my personal creative journeys, all the noteworthy things that I find along the way and the original stuff that others are doing that turn my head.
So please join in. Share your ideas and the things you have done with me and each other and let’s play hardcore ‘show and tell’.
No big promises – I post when I can, for now, and I’m not trying to sell you anything. Huge respect to those I admire and I will make every effort to credit my inspirations and always give them the props they deserve.
It was around this time that I slowly realised that I loved to do stuff. Take stuff apart and put it back together. Make new stuff out of old stuff.
I also love to show off… my pose almost says “Come with me – I have something to show you.”
So come with me – I have lots to show you.
