sandwich and half a soup

It’s rare that I am happy when one of my possessions breaks, but when the break is perfect, I have to take it as a sign. Take this little bowl from IKEA:

Amazingly, it rolled off the kitchen counter and cracked right in two – and I mean a perfect two. Even the broken edges are perfectly straight and smooth.

Now cutting porcelain is outside my bag of tricks so I knew I couldn’t ignore this opportunity and had to make it work somehow. I ran out and picked up this cool plate from the new Tiger store that opened near my work (yaaay). £2.

Then I just added Goop.

Unrelated to the Gwenyth thingy, it’s a glue that I started using in my teens and found to stick pretty much anything to anything to anything. The trick is that it never fully hardens, so it’s less likely to snap that the usual super-hardening glues.

So half a bowl + a cheap plate + glue and I have this amazing little plant pot.

Easily wall-mounted with a standard plate rack and a cute bit of wall candy. Now I just have to make another one…
