We are back in so many ways (and in one particular place).
Social Nesting HQ has moved and, while we are settling in in our new (old) home and native land and waiting for the majority of our worldly possessions – we’re talking stuff on a boat, people – we are slipping on our duvet boots and nesting with what minimal supplies we have.
Starting with a bit of washi wonder…

We don’t care what the haters say, IKEA is a movers godsend, and IKEA Canada is the best, brightest, and friendliest incarnation of said godsend. For where else can $99 buy you a hardworking chest of drawers that you can also customise guilt-free?

We took one:

and a bit of Japanese genius in the form of:

and ran with it.

If you don’t know what the Japanese genius here is, MT Casa produce super-wide washi tape for use in the home. It is a customisers’ dream.
So armed with a blade, a ruler, a cutting matt and the roll of 20cm washi we brought in our suitcase,

we set to playing with the newly constructed chest.
It’s no secret we are huge fans of the clouds and rain trend, so that was the splashing-off point.

Which really was as simple as making a couple of raindrop templates out of cardboard with the blade…

And from there, we free-styled it.
The theme just developed. We are in a bit of a storm of the unknown. Our stuff is at sea, but we have been so fortunate to have the port of support in the form of friends who have made this all very easy. They have been the lighthouse, bringing us in safe and sound.

So this is an homage to them.
