A new year of creativity unmasked thanks to a fantastic (and slightly forgotten) present…

The only thing better than finding a lost treasure is finding a lost treasure after you had forgotten you lost it.

While recently rifling through a random box looking for some paperwork, we were thrilled to discover a slightly forgotten pre-move present from a former colleague and friend of Social Nesting, Mr JL.

Wintercroft DIY Masks

It was the printouts – misplaced in a transatlantic move – of two mask patterns that he had purchased for us from the amazing and original Wintercroft.

Wintercroft DIY Masks

Not only genius in design, but also from a transactional perspective, Wintercroft sell you the link to a PDF file of one of their incredible faceted DIY mask patterns that you then print, cut and construct yourself. No packaging, no shipping, just instant ownership… which is a wonderful consolation to the recommended 2 to 3 hours needed to put your mask together.

Worth it for the truly striking result.

With clothing, jewellery and custom projects also on offer, there is a world of Wintercroft to indulge in.

For now, we’ve got blades and tape at the ready!

Another salute to a genius craftsperson, brought to our attention via the Fred Aldous newsletter, where their ‘Meet the Maker’ focus this week is on Kate Kelly, the paper printer and sculptress behind Kaper.

I am always in utter awe of the techniques, skills and patience that others possess to pull off such works. This is illustrated, screen-printed paper crafted into woodland creatures. Amazing.
